Chlorine

Chlorine is present is almost all backyard pools. Chlorine literally has chemical compunds that create an acidic reaction in your pool to kill any and all bacteria. This chemical reaction will have a bleaching effect on your healing tattoo and will make your colors and outlines become much lighter. This will ruin the overall look and most likely cost you extra money to get you tattoo repaired.

There must be confusion out there that since your pool is bacteria free from the chlorine its safe from getting an infection but that is far from the truth.

Some tattoos need to be ruined by the pool so they will look half good

Next time you get a cut and it begins to heal just go swimming for awhile and look at what happens to your scab. It will get yellow and slimey and look disgusting. That is what your tattoo will look like also because your fresh tattoo is just like cutting yourself.

Your tattoo will already scab because thats natural but if you get chlorine in there before the scab is gone then you have a super high chance of needing to repair the damage
