Lowering the Pain Factor When Getting a Tattoo
I don’t care what other people may tell you, getting a tattoo hurts. Some hurt more than others, but they all hurt to some degree.
If you are looking for a less painful tattoo, try to go for an area that has a good amount of tissue and muscle. The less muscle and tissue areas, such as your ankle, wrist, ribs, etc tend to hurt more.
People can tell you that one area hurts more than another, but what it really comes down to is the person getting tattooed. Some people have a higher pain tolerance than others. I know that people told me that my thigh would be an easy spot to tattoo because it is a “meatier” area than most, but it was anything but easy; I remember telling my artist that it felt like I had skid my leg on asphalt and had major road rash.

3. Tattoos are works of art, make sure you are in the frame of mind that this is a process that will take some time.
4. If the pain that you experience while getting a tattoo becomes too much to bear you should let your tattoo artist know right away. This way you can take a short break or even split up your tattoo sessions until your design is completed.
5. Listening to music can be very helpful in minimizing the amount of pain you experience while getting a tattoo. Music is very good at relaxing people and will more then likely take your mind off of any pain involved in the tattooing process.
